Why Buttface?
Because you can "butt" the "face" of your front differential against rocks, sliding you over the obstacle!
Is the Buttface only a great differential guard?
It not only protects your differential, but also protects your delicate tie rod.
It can keep the tie rod from bending
not only from direct impacts, but it also supports it if
the tie rod is trying to bend down from sudden wheel force.
How much does it cost?
The Buttface is $180.00 for Dana 30 applications. Call us for other sizes.
What does it fit?
We currently have models to fit Dana 30 and Dana 44 on CJs, YJs and TJs. We can custom build other sizes.
But I have a ZJ tie rod on my TJ!
We now have a model to fit that application too!
Will it interfere with my steering components?
No! In the pictures below, the black unit is installed on a TJ with no lift at all! Since the Buttface
is installed on your
axle, it moves along with the other components.
How strong is it?
The red unit below is installed on a TJ with 5" of suspension lift and a Rubicon Express chromoly tie rod (recently replaced with a
Baertrax 1 1/4" tie rod).
It has been used many, many times on the rocks at Clayton, Oklahoma. It has
helped the owner of this
Jeep slide over rocks, where before they would have
stopped him or required the use of momentum to break over the rock.
The unit has held up and shows no signs of wear other than
bare metal from rocks removing the paint.
We also wheel what we sell. We tested the unit for several
months before releasing it to the public. We have taken numerous trips
to Hot Springs, Clayton and local wheeling spots and the
original test unit is still on our Jeep!
How does it look installed?
